The Real-Life 'The Fault In Our Stars' Couple Passed Away This Week And Our Hearts Are Broken
Katie and Dalton Prager were known as the two who were the real-life The Fault In Our Stars couple. The story of how the two meet was worth hearing but sadly the two lovebirds passed away one few days after the other. The couple had a condition called cystic fibrosis (CF) is a common hereditary disease in the white population. It is characterized as a multi-system disease and its timing is different and varied between patient and patient. This disease involves the involvement of the respiratory system, digestion, skin, and fertility. The disease is characterized by an advanced chronic process, with the severity of pulmonary disease dictating the quality of life and life expectancy of the child or adult. Cystic fibrosis affects the lives of over 30,000 people in America at this very moment.
Katie and Dalton Prager were inspiring many people around the world as the real-life The Fault in Our Stars couple.
They were associated with the book and movie because they had a similar relationship to the one Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters had.
The two met when they were eighteen years old, both suffering from cystic fibrosis.
Specialists even requested of Katie not to meet with Dalton, since he had an infection that would have been extremely dangerous for Katie. She overlooked their warnings and they decided to start a relationship and enjoy it while they can.
The couple took the next step and married two years after they met, and even spent a few years with overall good health.
Sadly, on September 17th, Dalton health went downhill and he passed away during the night. Katie was already in the ICU and was too sick to be by his side in his final moments so the two used Facetime to say their goodbyes. The last moment of them seeing each other face to face was on their fifth anniversary.
When asked about their relationship, just one-day before Dalton died, Katie responded by saying that she had never felt regrets about their relationship.
Katie passed away shortly after, only 5 days after Dalton left the world behind.
Her mom posted an announcement, "Early toward the early hours of today, Katie wanted to return to her home, to be on her bed, being able to spend her last moments by her mother, father, sibling and her dogs, finishing her life surrounded by love, far from the hospitals, tubes, IVs. I know Dalton was up there waiting for her on the other side with his arms wide open ready to embrace her.
Katie passed away after suffering problems mostly in the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine were slowly shutting down. Her mother added, " I honestly believe deep down that Dalton was ready to meet his wife and that the two will never be separated, not even by death."
Katie said she was fortunate enough to be in a special one of a kind of relationship and that she found her soul mate, and if their love story was written down, it would have been a bestseller. When Katie was asked how would their story end she answered, "And they lived happily ever after, in each other's arms for eternity."
In our opinion, Katie and Dalton's love was bigger and stronger than the characters in the book, and they were inspiring many around the world to find the one who will be with you in sick and health. The two were truly blessed to experience true love, no matter how brief it was.
This touching story is worth talking about, we would love to hear from you about what you think regarding these two.
May their souls rest in peace and unite once again on the other side.
